Gate three of four
Most of what an AI says about you was not written by you.
The third gate is off your website entirely: your profile, your reviews, the directories in your trade, and the "best in town" articles someone else wrote. For a local or regional business these usually weigh more than anything on your own pages.

Why this one decides the rest
When a model is asked who to use, it does not read one site and decide. It reads the places that already list companies like yours, and it leans on sources that agree with each other. Your own site is one input among several.
This is also where the disagreements live. A profile with the wrong category, an aggregator with an old phone number, and a site with a new address are three versions of you. The model picks one, and it may not pick yours.
- Most of it is not your site Lists, profiles and reviews make up more of the answer than your own pages.
- One profile carries weight A wrong category or an old number travels further than you would think.
- Disagreement costs you When two sources contradict each other, a model can reach for a third.
- Lists are winnable The "best in town" articles in your area are the ones being read out.

What we check and fix here · 8 of 21
- 13
We fix the pin on the map and the category on your profile.
The single most powerful lever for a local business, and the one most often set wrong years ago and never revisited.
› GBP primary category, verified address, pin placement
- 14
We get a steady flow of reviews moving again.
Not a burst. Volume and recency both count, and a wall of five-star reviews all posted in one week counts against you.
› review velocity
- 15
We fix your listings on the sites the AIs actually read.
Every trade has three or four aggregators that feed the answers. Most businesses have an out-of-date entry on all of them.
› sector aggregators
- 16
We work to get you into the "best X in town" articles.
Guides and local media are a large share of what gets cited. Being in them feeds directly into what an AI recommends.
› editorial listicles
- 17
We get you mentioned, even without a link.
A model counts your name appearing next to your category and your city. The link is optional; the mention isn't.
› unlinked brand mentions
- 18
We keep the hours right, holidays included.
"Open now" is a filter. Being wrong about a bank holiday removes you from the answer for the whole day.
› hours and special hours
- 19
We fill in the services list in your words, not the trade's.
People don't search for what your industry calls it. The profile has a field for this and almost nobody fills it in properly.
› GBP services and attributes
- 20
We put up real photos, at the right cadence for your trade.
Genuine ones, taken on site, added regularly. Never stock, never generated.
