Gate one
Can AI get in?
Settings on your site, or set by whoever hosts it, can quietly block AI from reading your pages. On September 15 one of the biggest hosting companies changes its default, and most owners won't be told.
The company that hosts your website is changing a default setting. After that date AI can be blocked from reading your pages, without anyone telling you.

One of three things just happened.
Good. That's worth knowing, and worth protecting. The settings that make it possible break quietly, and nobody sends you an email when they do.
You exist, but you're not the answer. That gap is mostly mechanical.
Then for that customer, in that moment, you weren't one of the options.
Whichever one it was, the same three things decide it. Twenty minutes and we'll show you which one is yours.
Book the 20-minute walkthroughEvery AI answer about your business passes four gates. Miss one and the others stop mattering. Most owners fail at least one and never find out.
Gate one
Settings on your site, or set by whoever hosts it, can quietly block AI from reading your pages. On September 15 one of the biggest hosting companies changes its default, and most owners won't be told.
Gate two
Your site has to say who you are and what you sell in a form AI can actually read. To a visitor it's obvious from the page. To an AI it usually isn't. It doesn't read pages, it lifts sentences.
Gate three
Most of what an AI says about you doesn't come from your website. It comes from your profile, your reviews, the directories in your trade, and the "best in town" articles someone else wrote. If those disagree with each other, the AI picks one, and it might not be yours.
Gate four
Google only broke this out as its own report in June. Before that it was buried inside your normal search numbers with no way to separate it. Most owners have never looked at it.
Four numbers, each with the study it came from named on the card. Look any of them up.
92 in 100
When Google shows an AI summary, 92 people in 100 never click a single result. They read the answer and move on.

How many people click a link inside the AI answer itself. Being one of its sources isn't enough. You have to be the name it says.

Same study
Two out of three Google searches now end without anyone clicking anything at all. The customers didn't disappear. They get their answer without ever reaching you.
Until last year
Rank high. People found you on page one and clicked through.
Publish more. More pages, more keywords, more posts, more of everything.
Open analytics. Every visit you earned showed up there.
The job was to be findable.
Now
Ask once. They get the answer on the spot and never come.
Get read. The AI reads a handful of sources and names three companies.
You can't see it. Visits that arrive from AI answers only got a report of their own in June, and it does not fill in the past.
The job is to be named.
None of that was your fault.
All of it is fixable.
Four simple steps. You see everything we find before you decide whether we fix it.

You give us your website and we put the questions your buyers actually ask through the AI systems. No call and no card to get it.
Run my free reportWe read the report with you, ask what you sell and to whom, and tell you what is costing you most and where we would start.
We fix all of it, and what the report found is only the start: access, pages, profile, listings, reviews, measurement. Documented, with a handover call so your team can keep it that way.
We switch on the tracking and set your baseline in the first week. From there we measure how the AI models talk about you, where what they say comes from, and what moves over time.

HVAC
Ironwood Air & Heat
Four-location HVAC company in Phoenix, AZ
Turned out our own website was blocking the crawlers these assistants use. Two other agencies in the last two years, and nobody had ever mentioned it. Pilcrow found it in the first week.
I'll be blunt. I didn't fully understand what they were doing at the start, and I told them so. They slowed down and explained it in terms I could actually use. That's not nothing when you're paying for something you can't see.
Here's what matters. When it's 115 degrees and someone's AC quits at six in the evening, they ask the AI what to do. We're in that answer now, and the phones show it.
Case study
How a top-ranked Phoenix HVAC independent opened a blocked Access gate, made its pages readable to AI, and turned up in the answers on a Foundation engagement.

Dental
Rivergate Dental Partners
Multi-location dental group in Nashville, TN
We were listed under four different names across the directories these assistants read, and none of our seven dentists had a profile anywhere. The AI treated us as four small practices instead of one big one. Nobody had spotted that in years of paying for marketing.
The Pilcrow team fixed the boring stuff first: one name, nine listings, a real page for every dentist. No new ads, no new website.
Now when someone asks the AI who does implants near Franklin, we're in the answer, usually second or third. Twenty new patients in about two months, and our cost per patient went down, not up.
Case study
How a seven-dentist Nashville group became one practice in the eyes of the assistants, went from 9 questions to 27, and traced 20 new patients back to AI answers on a Foundation engagement.

Personal injury law firm in Tampa, FL
In our field the AI names the same three national brands for almost every question. In 35 out of 40, we didn't exist. We had tried two agencies and a lot of ad spend to get around that.
Pilcrow told us upfront that nothing would move for the first four weeks, and nothing did. They kept sending the weekly count anyway. Then it moved.
Three months in, we're named in 24 of the 40 questions people ask the AI after a crash in Tampa, and ten signed cases trace straight back to an AI answer. The second signed case paid for the whole engagement.
Case study
How an independent Tampa injury firm broke into answers that named only national brands, and signed 10 cases traced to AI assistants on a custom engagement.

Solstice Aesthetics
Five-location medical aesthetics group in DFW, TX
We had five clinics and one Google profile. Everything we'd ever published lived on Instagram, which the AI can't read. So whenever someone asked the AI about lip filler in Frisco or Plano, it sent them to Uptown, or to someone else.
Pilcrow gave every clinic a real page, rewrote our services around what patients actually ask the AI, with prices and downtime, and got 240 of our before-and-afters somewhere the assistants could read them.
Two months start to finish. 132 first treatments traced to an AI answer, 108 consultations a month from a channel that didn't exist, and it paid for itself in week four.
Case study
How a Dallas–Fort Worth aesthetics group with a huge Instagram following and almost no presence in AI answers put all five clinics on the map, in eight weeks, on a custom engagement.

Every day, buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI what to buy and who to use. Find out where your business stands.
On its way.
The report is generating now and lands in your inbox in a few minutes. Bring it to the walkthrough and we'll have read it too.
When buyers ask AI who to use, does your name come up or your competition's?
This takes about five minutes. Keep this page open to watch it, or close it: the report reaches you by email either way.

SEO is about ranking a page so someone clicks it. This is about being one of the three companies an AI names when nobody clicks anything. Some of the work overlaps. The goal doesn't.
Partly, yes, and we'll tell you which parts on the call. Numbers 2, 18 and 19 on our list take an afternoon and you don't need us. What takes longest is knowing which forty questions your buyers actually ask, and which fixes matter in what order.
You shouldn't, on our word. That's why the check at the top of the page runs on an AI we don't control, why our own audit is published in full, and why the sample report is public. Read those first, then decide.
That can happen and we'd rather say so. Nobody controls what these systems say. Anyone guaranteeing you a place is either lying or doesn't understand how they work. What we can do is make sure nothing on your side is what's stopping it.
